When making a left turn:

A few traffic rules that are particular to Idaho and frequently show up on the test.
Daylight-only driving for drivers under 16
Idaho GDL licensees under 16 may only drive between a half hour before sunrise and a half hour after sunset, unless a licensed driver at least 21 years old is seated beside them.
First-six-months passenger limit
During the first six months after a driver under 17 is licensed, no more than one passenger under 17 may ride in the vehicle unless those passengers are related to the driver by blood, adoption, or marriage.
50 hours of supervised driving required
Before a Class D license, an Idaho permit holder must log 50 hours of supervised driving, including at least 10 hours at night, with a licensed driver 21 or older seated beside them.
Idaho's 'basic rule' on speed
Posted speed limits are maximums for ideal conditions. Under Idaho's basic rule you must always drive at a speed that is reasonable and prudent for the weather, road surface, visibility, and traffic — even if that is below the posted limit.
Three-day wait to retake the knowledge test
If you fail the Idaho knowledge test you must wait at least three days before retaking it. A test taken and 'passed' during that three-day window is considered invalid and is not accepted.
How to get your Idaho driver's license
The knowledge test is one step in Idaho's licensing process. Here's how the path typically works for a new driver.
Check the age and eligibility requirements
Eligibility in Idaho: 14½ for a supervised instruction permit with driver training; 15 for a Class D driver's license. Have your proof of identity, residency, and any required parental consent ready.
Study the official handbook
Read the Official Idaho Driver's Handbook (itd.idaho.gov) and practice with DMV Ace until you're consistently scoring above 85%.
Pass the knowledge test
The Idaho written test has 40 questions, and you need 34 correct (85%) to pass. Permit/licensing fee: $21.50 for a supervised instruction permit (includes a $6.50 skills-test receipt fee); a driver-training course adds about $15.
Build supervised driving experience
Hold your permit for the period Idaho requires and log supervised driving hours with a licensed adult before you schedule the road test.
Pass the road test and get licensed
After you pass the behind-the-wheel road test, Idaho issues your driver's license — often an intermediate/provisional license first for younger drivers.
Steps are a general guide — always confirm the current process with your local Idaho DMV office.
